The United States Military is currently upgrading its Bradley Fighting Vehicles to address new threats in the 21st century. The upgrade program, known as the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Life Extension Program (BFV LEP), aims to enhance the vehicle’s protection systems, combat capabilities, and survivability.
One of the key improvements in BFV LEP is the introduction of an integrated protection system. This system will include explosive reactive armor (ERA), active defense systems, and mine countermeasures. ERA will protect the vehicle against advanced anti-tank projectiles, active defense systems will detect and neutralize threats from missiles and artillery shells, and mine countermeasures will safeguard the Bradley against various types of mines and obstacles.
Additional enhancements of BFV LEP include:

New fire control systems: Equipped with longer-range and more accurate targeting capabilities, these systems provide the Bradley with improved offensive and defensive capabilities.

Expanded weapon options: The upgraded vehicle can carry a wider variety of weapons, including anti-tank missiles, enhancing its versatility on the battlefield.

BFV LEP is expected to be deployed by 2025. Once completed, this program will ensure that the Bradley Fighting Vehicle remains one of the U.S. military’s most critical mainstay combat vehicles. With these modernizations, the Bradley will effectively meet the challenges of 21st-century warfare, making it a formidable force on the battlefield.
