The KNDS EMBT is a new Main Battle Tank (MBT) developed by KNDS, a joint venture between Germany’s Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and France’s Nexter. The EMBT is designed to be a modern tank capable of competing with other MBTs worldwide.
The EMBT is armed with a 120mm main gun, a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, and a 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun. It is also equipped with an advanced fire control system, including ballistic computers and night vision equipment.
Powered by a 1,500-horsepower diesel engine, the EMBT can reach a top speed of 70 km/h. The tank also features integrated protection systems, including explosive reactive armor (ERA), active defense systems, and mine countermeasures.
The EMBT is intended for use by European armed forces. It has been selected by both Germany and France as the platform for the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS) program. The MGCS is expected to be deployed by 2035.
